In several news sources in Indonesia, such as thejakartapost.com and beritasatu.com there is news about the BTS boyband award that received the 2020 UNICEF Inspire Award for the “Love Myself” campaign which has been voiced since November 2017. This award was given by UNICEF to BTS for the Campaign category and Integrated Events related to BTS's global campaign and initiative entitled “Love Myself”. This campaign is voiced by BTS which aims to support anyone to accept and respect themselves no matter who it is.
According from soompi.com said,
UNICEF considered the “Love Yourself” campaign to be the most influential
campaign in collaboration with UNICEF internationally. However, the award given
by UNICEF to BTS itself is based on online voting by organizational staff
around the world and an assessment by a panel of judges.
Before getting the 2020 UNICEF
Inspire Award, BTS once voiced this 'Love Yourself' campaign at the United
Nations headquarters, New York, United States in September 2018 which was
delivered by the leader of BTS, Kim Namjoon.
"It
doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, your skin color, your gender
identity, speak for yourself," said Kim Nam-joon, who is known by the
stage name Rap Moster or RM BTS, at the time.
The campaign voiced by BTS is based
on life in the community as well as the things they have been through so far
which they convey through their musical works. Youth itself is a thing where a
time for self-discovery and many things that are still difficult to express
even for oneself.
Perhaps for today's young people
are more familiar with the word ‘insecure’, the word 'insecure' itself has its
own definition in each individual. A common factor in many issues of self-doubt
and can even lead to feelings of self-loathing. This is usually triggered by
the social environment and treatment of someone by giving criticism for
something that he considers that the individual is not 'perfect' in a certain
sense, such as a face that is not beautiful like the standard of beauty they
have upheld so far or in a certain environment, the body which is not ideal, or
even the perfection of the limbs, etc.
Behind this, they don’t know for
individuals who experience this treatment of course they many try to change
themselves for the better to overcome the views of those around them, which
sometimes has a negative impact on the individuals themselves because they are
too lulled by people's views of themselves and forget to ‘Love Myself’ and be
grateful for himself. Of course, to be able to do ‘Love Myself’ and better
understand it, there must be encouragement in himself and the factor in the
treatment of people in the environment not to comment too much on physical
offense, even though it is a form of freedom of opinion. However, if that
opinion can hurt other individuals it is better to keep quiet and not offend
it.
If I have the opportunity to become
an influencer in the future, I think I want to be able to work in a field that
matches in my passion or at least in a field that I like and of course what that
I like can have a positive impact on others even though it's in that sense the
little one.
That desire exists because of the
top influencers I admire more now than when I first got to know them, BTS. I am
very grateful to them because they turned me into a better person in terms of
learning and taught many things especially the meaning of "Hard work will
not betray results" which was actually when I made up for my mistakes in
Junior High School. The message they conveyed through music and seeing how hard
they worked to realize their dreams motivated me to be able to make up for my
mistakes that had disappointed my parents with the national test scores that
were still unsatisfactory for them and fulfilled my parents' previous
expectations by winning bets with my father and entering school Intermediate
over the land I want.
Thanks for fyi keep it up !
