Summary
The drama script entitled Death of a Salesman by Artur Miller, has the theme of dream and also tragedy, where in this script tells the main character named Willy Loman who lives with his wife named Linda and their two sons named Happy and Biff in house and yard and in various places in New York and Boston, where this family is a picture of a family that has difficult to deal with the changes that are happening in America at that time. Willy Loman is married to a very kind woman named Linda. In their marriage, Linda is described as a very caring woman, always loves him and is always by Willy side. However, this is a little different from the personal life that Willy lived. Willy Loman has a pretty complicated life, where this character has a pretty bad character and has a pretty tough character. He has spent 34 years as a salesman, which is in stark contrast to Willy's true dream which according to Biff, Willy is a supposed carpenter and lives in a simpler part of America. At the age of 63 years, that wages he received were not as much as when he worked in 1928 because of his unproductive work as a salesman. Because the wages he received caused stress, and triggered the hallucinations that Willy experienced with his two sons, he assumed that his two sons were still teenagers. Not only against his two sons, Willy also often has hallucinations with his dead brother, Ben. In addition to hallucinating, the stress and other pressures that come on him cause him to lose his concentration in living his life. it didn't stop there, it was also exacerbated by the frequent fights between Willy and Biff, this was because Biff felt he couldn't fulfill his father's big dream and he decided to spent his life in the American West to find his identity through work in farm also an animal husbandry with wages that Willy thought was meager. However, over time, Willy's age and the stress he was suffering from made him decide to commit suicide so that his family could at least get his death insurance money.
